The Quarter Ham Roast ranges in weight from 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 pounds. This is the perfect size ham for a dinner of 4-6 people. Choose the size you would like, and add a 2nd quarter ham for a larger gathering.

Cooking a ham roast can range from simple to elaborate, depending on your preferences for seasoning and glazing. Try this recipe for a delicious glazed roast!

Ingredients:

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (about 5 to 10 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar or orange juice
  • Cloves (optional, for studding the ham)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

Preheat and Prep:
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). This low and slow method will keep your ham moist and tender.
  2. Prepare the Ham:  Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern to allow the glaze to penetrate.
Make the Glaze:
  1. Combine Glaze Ingredients: In a small saucepan over medium heat, mix the brown sugar, honey (or maple syrup), Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar (or orange juice). Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is cohesive and slightly thickened. This should take about 5 minutes.
  2. Apply Initial Glaze: Brush the ham all over with about one-third of the glaze. If you’re using cloves, you can insert them at the intersections of your score marks for additional flavor and a traditional presentation.
Bake:
  1. Bake the Ham: Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan. Fill the bottom of the pan with about 1/4 inch of water to keep the oven humid and help keep the ham moist. Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil to prevent the exterior from drying out.
  2. Baste with Glaze: Bake the ham, basting with the remaining glaze every 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C) on a meat thermometer. This will typically take about 10 to 15 minutes per pound, but it’s best to go by temperature rather than time.
Serve:
  1. Rest the Ham: Let the ham rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it more flavorful and moist.
  2. Slice and Serve: Slice the ham against the grain for tender cuts. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Enjoy your ham roast with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad!
